Camphor, Eggshell, and a Glass of water.

Camphor, Eggshell, and a Glass of water.

The new moon is coming, and with this new lunar cycle, it may be time to remember some recipes of our magical folklore, especially from the Caribbean and South America, you can find a couple of curious and interesting recipes there, which have been put into practice for decades, and have been the subject of discussion for their simplicity and discussion.

In this post I talk about three elements that are essential in my family, they are three elements that can never be missing at home, even candles and incense can sometimes fail, but for Mom, these three elements are essential in the house of any witch and any wizard.

Camphor.

Camphor is this particular form of white resin, with a penetrating chemical aroma, has a wide variety of uses in alternative medicine, and is usually easily obtained in botanicals and esoteric shops.

Camphor is widely used to make an analgesic and antiseptic balm, it is considered to have extensive healing qualities, but in sorcery books, it is always reduced to "supplement that you can use in your protection spells."

The balsam has a very particular energy that in South American folklore is associated with exorcisms and the extermination of witches, Caribbean sayings say "only witches buy camphor because only witches know how to use it", or "camphor scares the devil because it burns his feet ", and" where you smell camphor there a witch taking out the devil ".

In the traditional spiritism of South America, as well as in the Umbanda and Candomblé currents, camphor is burned together with other dry aromatic herbs, to create "incense" and "cleans" that exorcise evil, the witches of the Caribbean, especially In the Trinidad and Tobago area, they burn camphor in the morning to prevent evil night spirits from staying home.

In Venezuela and Colombia, it is used to ward off evil spirits, either by crushing camphor to mix it with sage and peppermint, and burned on doors, or crushed with elderberry or birch bark, to create a powerful talisman of protection.

Camphor is not widely used in the Amazon, mainly because it is not an organic product and it is also difficult to acquire in these places. In botanicals it is one of the most recommended products to ward off and dissipate evil spirits, as well as astral larvae and ghosts with bad intentions, it is a protection element with a quite powerful vibrational charge, you can even mix camphor with clean water to lighten the energy load of your home.

Cascarilla (Eggshell Ritual Powder)

Not to be confused with the "Cascarilla" (Croton eluteria) plant typical of Central and South America, which burns to attract love and good luck.

The husk has a mostly symbolic and redirecting use of energy, we use it mostly in practices associated with Afro-Caribbean mysticism, it is present in multiple rituals of Lucumi, Santeria, Candomble, Umbanda, Quimbanda, Palo Mayombe, and others. It is used to draw symbols of power in various rituals associated with the conjuration of greater powers (gods and Orishas).

In the most modern witchcraft practice, influenced by the world of lucumi and the Brazilian voodoo, the husk is used to draw circles of protection under the bed, or it is crushed into a white powder that is mixed with dried flowers, herbs, and honey, thus creating a "sacred mass" that is buried in the courtyards to protect against the "Evil Eye" and to nullify the power of dark or negative magical works that have been buried near the home.

The husk is associated with Eleggua, the one who opens and closes the paths and doors, and Obatala, the father and guardian of everything that is white and pure. We make use of the shell to mark sacred animals to be sacrificed, to mark sacred trees, to protect altars using sacred symbols, and to draw “veves” on the walls and floor.

The glass with water.

"And he told me in a dream that he didn't want candles or incense, that he should just put a glass of water on it and he would be happy with it." Those were my mother's words more than ten years ago, after waking up from a dream, where Obatala appeared before her on a white dove, asking her to place a glass of water on his altar every morning, that he did not want flowers or candles, he just wanted a glass of water to refresh his "Ashe" in the morning.

At home we never lacked a glass with water under the bed, it was something essential, indispensable, and the kind of things, that if you forget to do, mom would punish you the next day.

The glass of water needs to be changed every morning, and every now and then (not always) it was replaced in the morning by a cup of low-sugar black coffee, sometimes with honey, to keep the well-meaning spirits who keep us awake and happy. visit at home.

This glass with water is a method of augury and protection, as effective as it is simple. It consists of filling a glass with water and keeping it under the bed, this glass with water helps to clean and renew your energy while you sleep, there while you are unconscious, this way you will not be disturbed by your own energy, or by playful ghosts, or by various lesser spirits. In this way, your energy will be fresh and renewed in the morning. If you have had a recurring dream in recent days, a glass of water under the bed is the way to bring clarity to your dreams and then help you understand them.

A glass of water by the door is a method of protection, or rather divination, every night place a glass of water by the front door of the house, and check the glass in the morning, if the glass looks clean it is because the energy at home is flowing properly if the glass looks dirty, there is a bad vibe or a bad spirit in the house if the water is what looks dirty, a person at home is sick if the glass wakes up, it means that a necromancer, a sorcerer, or a spiritist, send a “deceased” (a spirit that is controlled by magical methods against his will) to harm someone in the house, and the spirit trying to ask for help moving the glass, not as a warning, but as a method of help.
