Mareiwa, Venezuelan Folklore VII
Mareiwa
According to the Wayuu, he was the son of thunder. He was the possessor of fire, and he kept it jealously in a cave, far from men. Junuunay, young guajiro, was able to enter the cave and stole two embers, and this was how the knowledge of fire spread among men.
This story has a certain similarity with the story of the Titan Prometheus who stole the fire of heaven.
