The Black Caiman As Animal Symbol of Power
The Black Caiman
The black Caiman or "Jacaré" is a giant reptile of the crocodile family; it lives in the Amazon jungle, where it is one of the most common species to see and feeds on all kinds of large and small animals, including birds, humans, whole deer, capybaras, and tapirs. The black caiman typically measures up to six meters. However, it is not uncommon for sightings of some even longer to occur, and its characteristic dark coloration is the reason for its name.
Like the jaguar, the black caiman is vital to the maintenance of the entire Amazon ecosystem, even though it is considered by visiting anthropologists and scholars as a superpredator (whatever that means).

Like most carnivorous animals, dreaming of an alligator is an alert of imminent danger; however, dreaming of a black alligator indicates that you are prepared for an upcoming situation that you believe is beyond your control. When seen in dreams, the black caiman is considered in the Wayuu tribes of the Amazon as a good omen that the ancestors are watching over us, and the caiman acts as their messenger to tell us, "We are taking care of you from the edge, of the water."
