Household protective plants.

Household protective plants

Here, dear reader, I share a short series of plants recognized in the world of witchcraft for their special powers of protection, many of these plants and their different uses can be found already listed in my book "The Magical Art of Crafting Charm Bags", so you can use them in different ways to protect your home.

These plants can simply be placed in the corners, doors, and windows of your home, you can plant them around the garden, you can burn them by incense in the hours before sunrise and let the magic smoke do their job, or you can dry them in the sun, crush them and mix them between in a cloth bag in green, purple or brown, and hang it or hide it in a cool and safe place in the home.

This last practice is quite common and you can find many variants of it in the books of different authors, because the traditional magic in its practice, which teaches us to hide a sachet of protective herbs and a small quartz in a hole in the wall just at midnight, a night of new moon, immediately chase away all the evil spirits inside the home, also the energy of this talisman will keep the home protected from evil spirits, curses, and witches with bad intentions.

Now here is a brief list of different plants that you can use to protect the home.

Basil, the star of the Druids

This plant positively changes the energy of the air, absorbs the negative energy, discomfort, depression, and sadness. According to folklore, witches drank their juice to fly at night, while the Chinese use it as a diuretic and to treat kidney diseases.

This plant is ruled by the energy of the planet Mars, so it has intense and very active energy, as a gift will bring good luck, and take it in a green bag with an odd number of silver coins will bring money and good luck.

Cactus, the crown of Saturn

Following traditional feng shui, place four cactus plants in four corners of the home in the direction of the four cardinal points, bring balance and good humor. In sorcery, it is consecrated and used to ward off thieves, intruders, and vengeful people.

It is recommended to keep the cactus in red or green pots to balance their energy, and in the most modern sorcery, we are taught to bury the written names of the people who want to harm us in the same pot with the plant, in this way that person will move away.

The Calendula, the sacred daughters of the Sun

This plant is ruled by the Sun, that is why its flowers must be collected at dawn and midday, its flowers have the power to strengthen all the spells and rituals performed to protect places, things, and people.

A wreath of these flowers hanging over the front door of the home will keep away misfortune and bad luck, a garland of basil and calendula is an effective barrier against all kinds of negative spells and witchcraft.

The Peppermint, the plant of abundance

A pot of mint hanging from the window is a powerful amulet against accidents, fires, ghosts, bad luck and envious people. A common practice in Wicca and witchcraft is to place a mixture of water, sea salt and peppermint leaves in a spray and use it to clean the house and offices as a protective incense.

Peppermint is perhaps one of the most important plants in magic and sorcery for its diversity of uses, bring a twig of this plant in the portfolio will promote good luck in money and chance, place a consecrated sprig of mint under the pillow allows us to sound with true love. This plant attracts good fortune, abundance to the home and money.

Burning mint at the door of the home keeps collectors and lenders away, at least for the time necessary for you to solve your economic situation.

The Fern, the smiling joy of home

A fern next to the entrance door will keep all those who live and sleep there protected and safe, while a jar with a fern combined with flower plants will strengthen the protective spirit of the home.

In several countries of Central America, there is the tradition practiced by witches to burn a branch of a fern in the early evening before the full moon, then mix their ashes with a little floral oil and use it to anoint the forehead and hands , then the spirit of the night will guide you to the nearest hidden treasure.

This plant ideal to combat depression and sadness has the power to turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts and provide a sense of security to their owners.

The Laurel, the princess of the fairies

The magic power of Laurel has always been linked to divine inspiration, protection, and money, has the power to cancel negative feelings, and the ability to open our eyes to the faerie world.

A personal practice, at home my mother told us in the kitchen that "while you burn bay leaves at home, the fairies will know that they are welcome", this comes because whenever mom cooked, she used to place a bay leaf in the burning stove, literally this always, and the laurel was one of those plants that were never missing at home.

If you wish to consecrate some object with the blessing of the forest spirits and grant it powers of protection linked to the magic power of the fairies, anoint the object in question with essential oil of laurel and let it rests on the ground, just in a place where the light of the crescent moon touch its surface.

Rosemary, the guardian of the witches

It is well known that a rosemary plant planted near the home will keep diseases and preoccupations far away, when a curse or any kind of curse is sent on an inhabitant of the home, the rosemary plants absorb it immediately and die, in this way they warn us about what happened so that we are attentive.

Rosemary has many uses in magic, but it is mainly used to attract money and protection, especially to protect physically large investments (structures, buildings, houses, vehicles) and to protect our loved ones.

Bags filled with rosemary and laurel in the corners of the home, or on the office desk will provide protection in all necessary aspects, if you want to protect yourself from thieves, do not forget to anoint your wallet and purse with a few drops of essential oil. rosemary the first Sunday of every month (Sunday, because it is a plant ruled by the sun).

The Rue, the mirror of the witches

The rue was recommended in Ancient Greece by Hippocrates to treat and cure pains, epidemics and contagious diseases, while the Romans used it to protect themselves from the curse of the druids, that which is closely related today to the famous " the evil eye".

Witches use rude to ward off death for a while longer, at least to gain some time and be able to properly say goodbye to their loved ones, a rough plant near our pet will protect you from bad influences and spirits, while burning rude and rosemary as incense in the vicinity will drive away evil spirits and dispel bad thoughts against us.

A very powerful magical use with this plant is to tie it with a red ribbon to an aloe branch, and hang it near the entrance of the house or on the altar, in this way the magic against us will not be able to cross the doors.

My grandmother told me that the "Chiriachu", the indigenous form of modern necromancers, could never enter a house where the rue was sown next to the door or seen from the windows, because the mere presence of this plant clouded the vision of the souls of the deceased who were acting under any kind of spell, and the Chiriachu had no power near this plant consecrated by the old gods who had no names.

The Aconite, the grass kills wolves

Beyond the magical folklore that you can find in the books where they portray this plant as a poison for werewolves, this plant originating in Europe that has been in the most recent centuries introduced in America, has the power to protect us from "the forms of the witches ", is how the different changing forms of the witches of the night are known to get into the houses or spy on their victims.

This herb that can also cause intoxication, so it must be used with extreme care, protects from ghosts, evil spirits, and burns to clean and purify places, people and objects that have been cursed.

Verbena, the essence of mystery

This plant dominates the theme "protection" perhaps better than any other, assumes all kinds of functions in the magic of protection, and can be combined with all kinds of plants and flowers to stimulate the energy that protects us from accidents and bad intentions.

It burns in the day to dispel the bad thoughts and in the night to transmute the bad energies into positives, a sack full of verbena and basil can be buried next to the tombs of our deceased to avoid that their presences cause us any kind of disturbance.

Now, you will find many more protective plants in many books of magic and sorcery, I have only left you here the most common and popular ones, besides they are the ones that I usually use and I can assure their effects, other plants can be harder to get or They may have a little harder energy to use, but this depends on each one.

Blessings and lots of light.
