For the Holiday Season:
13 Magical Elements I Keep in Every Room to Activate Holiday Abundance
The holiday season brings a profound shift in the energy around us. While the world outside gets louder, busier, and often more stressful, our most sacred duty as practitioners is to keep our homes sanctuaries of high-frequency energy. Over the years of sharing my practical craft, I’ve found that the most effective magic doesn't always look like a formal spell; often, it looks like a beautifully decorated home.
By strategically placing specific everyday items throughout our living spaces, we can subtly but powerfully activate the energy of prosperity, abundance, union, and healing. These elements act as silent guardians and active magnets, working around the clock to filter out the seasonal chaos and draw in good fortune. Here are the elements I keep in every room during this season, and exactly how you can use them to open the doors to a prosperous new year.
Magic is the final goal. You craft the environment, set the intention, and then let the magic manifest and do the heavy lifting. May your home be warm, your boundaries strong, and your doors wide open to abundance this season.

To the common eye, a bundle of cinnamon sticks tied together is just a charming, rustic holiday decoration that makes the room smell incredible. To us, it is a potent tool for shifting energy. I keep whole cinnamon bark in various spaces not just for the aesthetic, but because it is a powerhouse for inviting abundance. When the energy in the house feels stagnant or tense, you can carefully light the end of a cinnamon stick and let it smoke, walking it through the corners of the room. It instantly moves away bad energy and invites a warm, abundant vibration to take its place.
Keys of Opportunity:
I love to gather a variety of old, mismatched keys and hang them around my doors and windows. I tie them using strong red and golden threads. In practical magic, a key is never just a piece of metal; it is the universal symbol of access and overcoming obstacles. Hanging them in the entryways of light and air symbolizes that all doors in my path are open—even the doors I am just beginning to manifest from the comfort of my own home. The red thread brings the active strength to push those doors open, and the gold ensures the opportunities on the other side are prosperous.
Bells for Joy and Good Fortune.
Bells, or campanas as I usually call them, are essential for keeping a room's energy moving. When we place small bells on door handles or incorporate them into wreaths, their sound physically breaks up stagnant energy in the air. More than that, a bell's chime brings good luck, joy, togetherness, and celebration. They are the sound of fortune arriving and a reminder to celebrate the season's community and union.
Abundant Ribbons.
When it comes to ribbons this time of year, my rule is simple: the bigger the better, and the more the merrier. I tie large bows on everything, focusing specifically on red, white, gold, and green. This isn't just about making things look festive. Red represents active, moving energy—white channels purity and good intentions. Gold, naturally, draws in financial abundance. Green represents prosperity that comes easily, takes deep root, and keeps growing. Tying these knots yourself is a tactile way of binding your intentions to your home.
Pinecones for Financial Protection:
I always bring pinecones (piñas de pino) indoors during the winter. If you look at the sacred geometry of a pinecone, the scales radiate outward. Energetically, this keeps the frequency of money going and moving forward in all directions. Because of their hard, armored exterior, they also serve as excellent talismans for financial protection, guarding the household against unexpected expenses, scams, and financial drains during a season notorious for overspending.
Candles of All Shapes and Sizes:
I keep candles everywhere—votives, pillars, tapers, homemade ones—in every room. In the darkest months of the year, lighting a candle is a defiant act of hope. It represents light, yes, but it also shows that we are active and ready to act. A lit flame in a room channels divine light and keeps the space—and our own spirits—ready and prepared for whatever blessings are coming our way.
Hidden Water Jars:
This is a silent, unglamorous, but highly effective practice. I place a small, simple jar of water in every single room of the house, usually tucked away on a high shelf or behind a larger piece of decor. Water is a natural emotional sponge. It sits there quietly, absorbing bad energy, residual stress, or negative thoughts that might come our way during the day. Remember to toss the water outside or down the drain every few days, then refill it to keep the trap clean.
Dried Orange Slices in the Windows:
Stringing dried orange slices across the windows is like capturing little pieces of the sun. The bright, translucent color brings immediate joy and happiness to a space. Magically, citrus is a potent cleanser and protector. Hanging them where the light hits them acts as a ward of hope and protection, filtering the light that enters your home and ensuring only positive, vibrant energy crosses the glass.
The Spirit-Warding Jar:
In a central room, I like to keep a small, open jar packed with specific protective items. I fill it with cinnamon, star anise, everyday coins (especially the golden $1 coins if you can find them), and a few old keys from different places. The mix of sweet, sharp spices and the metal of the coins and keys creates a specific energetic frequency that removes bad entities from the house and keeps mischievous or heavy spirits from settling into your space.
The Renewed Money Bowl:
Near the front door, where it gets plenty of ambient light, I set up a freshly renewed money bowl for the season. This is meant to absorb heavy, stressful vibrations that often accompany the holidays while fiercely attracting wealth. For this specific bowl, you need: exactly 21 coins, a handful of star anise, seven sticks of cinnamon bark, a generous spoonful of dried rosemary, and a piece of clear quartz crystal. For this occasion, use the biggest, clearest quartz you can afford that still comfortably fits the bowl. The crystal represents light and cleanliness, amplifying the herbs' and coins' prosperity while neutralizing the stress of the outside world.
Photographs of Good Memories
Magic is deeply tied to our mindset. I make sure to display a variety of photos showing different good moments, happy gatherings, and travels. Keeping these visible doesn't just keep our minds operating at a high, positive frequency; it serves as a daily visual reminder of what joy feels like. By looking at these good memories, we actively vibrate at that level and manifest more of those exact experiences into our future.
Charm Bags and Amulets.
The holidays are the perfect time to refresh your personal amulets for good fortune and abundance. You can buy these from your favorite local botanica, find them online, or craft them yourself using recipes from my book, The Magical Art of Crafting Charm Bags. If you want a quick, highly effective recipe to try right now, take an empty paper tea bag and fill it with dried lentils, a few small coins, and dried rosemary. Add a small piece of paper with your full name and your zodiac symbol. Seal it, and keep it in your pocket or bag to draw steady, growing luck.
A Personal Anchor of Stability.
Finally, every room needs an anchor, but your home should have one special, unique item that represents stability, good fortune, and absolute abundance to you. For me, aside from the Yule Tree, I keep a specific signed copy of my own book, Manifestation Magic. I signed it with love, from me to me, with a personal note that says: "You did this, remember that."
It represents a massive commitment to myself. I started writing that book during a very heavy, difficult time, when many things around me were going badly. But I chose to keep moving forward. Despite the chaos, I was doing really well financially at the time, and my clients were making insane amounts of money, constantly asking me to do more and more money rituals for them. That book is a physical reflection of resilience, wealth, and power.
You need an item like that in your space. Something that reminds you of your own strength and capacity to generate abundance. If you don't have a specific item that holds that memory for you yet, you can create an energetic anchor instead. Take a large golden candle, or a homemade white candle, and prepare it by rubbing it with a blend of cinnamon oil, rose oil, myrrh, and frankincense. Light it on the first night of December, and let it stand as your personal beacon of stability and prosperity for the season.
